The first two debates between 3rd District Democratic Congressional nominee
Tim Steele and incumbent Representative Vernon Ehlers have been postponed
since Congress remains in session.
The debates scheduled for Tuesday, 24 October 2000 at the studios of WGVU-TV
in Grand Rapids and for Wednesday, 25 October 2000 at the Peninsular Club in
Grand Rapids have been delayed. The re-scheduled dates and times have not
yet been finalized.
The candidate forum on Monday, 30 October 2000 at City High School in Grand
Rapids and the debate on Wednesday, 1 November 2000 at the Ford Museum will
still take place as scheduled.
"I remain committed to debating Mr. Ehlers at least three times," Tim Steele
said. "I understand these postponements were not his doing. But he agreed
to three debates, and the voters of this district deserve nothing less. I
will meet him anytime and anywhere these can be re-scheduled."
