I was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 26, 1955, the third of three sons to John and Ruth Steele. My dad was a contract negotiator and my mom was a homemaker.

I lived in Detroit until just before my 18th birthday, when I moved to west Michigan to attend Grand Valley State Colleges. An Arts & Media Major, with an emphasis in Radio and Television, I spent my time there between 1973-1977.

In late 1976, I was hired part-time at WLAV-FM in Grand Rapids. I moved up to a full-time slot about a year later, and stayed until 1979. I returned to LAV-FM in 1980, and spent the next 11 years mostly doing the mid-day program. During that time, I developed, wrote, produced and hosted Famous Frames and Jazz Brunch, two very popular radio programs. Between 1987-1989, I also wrote, produced and hosted This Week In Cubs Baseball, an award-winning weekly highlights show that aired on WTWN-AM.

I left LAV-FM in 1991 and opened Norton Fixx Productions. Norton Fixx Productions is a radio-film-video production company that produces image, training and promotional films for a variety of west Michigan corporations. We've also produced a national television commercial, worked on various web sites, and produced and hosted numerous live events and awards shows. In 1996-1997, I wrote, produced, hosted and syndicated The Sports Page, a weekly 30-minute radio game show that aired in Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor. In the summer of 1999, Famous Frames returned to the local airwaves as a daily feature on WOOD-AM.

My wife, Lisa, and I have been married since 1985, and we have two kids, ages 12 and 9. We also have a beagle, whom the kids love very much.
