Chapter 7: Our Exciting Conclusion
The waterfront again, but after a strange feeling of lassitude, another feeling, like everything is happening inside a dream or maybe everything is happening too fast and there's nothing I can do about it. The commies from the boat show up, with the beautiful dark-haired girl in tow. She's wearing a bathing suit, one of those two-piecers like they wear on the Riviera. And then Feynman is there, but I didn't see him come in. And then a car rolls up. Boots and Tony Bongo get out and open the door for a blonde babe wearing sun glasses and a dress. Blonde. It's Her. But if I'm seeing her and Bongo together, what does that mean? A door to another place opens and suddenly I'm seeing the alien, although I'm not sure if I'm actually seeing it or if I'm dreaming it. And suddenly I'm on the deck of the boat but I can't remember how I got there, maybe I'm only dreaming it, and I have a gun out and I'm holding back the commies. And I think I shot somebody. Yes, I see Tony Bongo lying on the deck and I remember thinking "he's fixed now" and I've grabbed the dark-haired girl and because Tony Bongo is fixed, Lily can leave. And there's Lily hugging and kissing Feynman goodbye, but before she disappears she looks at me and points to the dark-haired girl, only I don't know what it means. I don't know what any of it means.
